Volunteering: The Basics:
The mission of ARI is to place stray, homeless and abandoned animals in their forever homes. Any animals that are not adopted live their lives as part of the ARI family. Volunteers are needed during every step – care, adoption, fund raising and more!
Volunteers play an integral role at Animal Rescue, Inc. The hundreds of animals under our care have so many needs to be met; we couldn’t possibly do it without the help of our volunteers. If you have some extra time and love to give, we can use your help!
Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Persons younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must be 13 years or older.
What Type of Help is Needed?
Dog Walker and Mentor – Dog walking and mentoring has an important impact to the dogs at our rescue. Some of our animals may need special one-on-one training skills or need assistance with therapy. Others may just enjoy a good stroll. Some again may be afraid of people and need a quiet human friend to show them people can be gentle and loving. Volunteering includes walking dogs, brushing and spending quality time with canine friends!
Cat Caretaker – Help keep the cat’s homes looking their best. Get down and dirty cleaning up after our resident kitties. It’s not glamorous, but the cats sure appreciate you for it. It’s volunteering, but you get paid well in purrs and affection. Spend time with the cats while you work and make new friends!
Grooming (Dogs and/or Cats) – Help keep our animals looking their best. This position ranges from giving a lucky cat a good brushing to helping shave a stray dog who is covered with mats of hair. Experience a plus!
Fundraising/Offsite Events – Animal Rescue, Inc. often gets invited to community events to share information about our organization and responsible pet care. Help spread the word by helping staff a booth at a local event or adopt-a-thon. Volunteering may include transporting animals and/or materials and being comfortable talking to the public. Bubbly, outgoing personality a plus!
Maintenance: ARI has been around for more than 35 years and it rescue facilities could use a little work! Routine maintenance or specialties can be utilized! If you’re a carpenter, electrician, painter or just handy, consider volunteering!
Clinic Assistance: Love animals and have some medical experience? Consider volunteering in assisting during our feline spay/neuter clinics, trap/neuter/release clinics or simply keeping an eye on ill animals at our rescue. It’s a great experience!
Organizational Specialist: Love to keep things organized? We could use a few handy volunteers to conduct upkeep on some of our storage areas. On a smaller scale, we can always use volunteers to write thank you letters, organize coupons, sweep outside areas, and consolidate animal and medical supplies. It’s a volunteer experience that makes you feel like you’ve accomplished something to help animals!
Office Help: Love the public? Volunteer in the office? Duties include answering phones, making phone calls, cleaning, organizing, sorting, interacting with the public and other administrative and slight labor tasks.
